Gun Knights
A downloadable game
The land of Ilth lies in its ruinous age. Its people have succumbed to desperation and know only despair at the hands of war, famine, disease, and monstrosities. In the wake of great peril, civilization clings onto hope in the form of Great Knights who swear fealty to shattered kingdoms and dead orders. Knights who roam the land with destructive weapons at arms, surviving on what meager pay they can collect from those in need and blood tithes they can pilfer from unholy perversions.
Revered and reviled, you are one such Gun Knight.
Gun Knights is a rules-light, combat-heavy tabletop roleplaying game for 2-4 players (Knights) and a Gun Master (GM). The game uses a hybrid dice pool and dice-step system, featuring dice explosions and multiple ways to upgrade a Knight's dice.
With a theme and a combat system heavily inspired by Dark Souls, Gun Knights emulates the reactive, rhythmic style of the video game series' battles by forgoing turns for simultaneous play. With no combat map and no movement actions, Gun Knights can easily be played remotely without the need for screen-sharing or using a shared digital map.
Gun Knights' bleak setting and grim themes are best exemplified in the burden that player characters must carry: The Curse of Undeath. Knights' immortality and doom are one in the same, as with every death, they become afflicted by the curse and lose parts of themselves via major stat debuffs.
FIRST EDITION, FREE VERSION
This is the free, first edition of Gun Knights, as the game is still under some construction. This version of the game is still fully playable, but has somewhat less game content than I would ultimately like to provide for purchase.
A more robust release (including more art, character options, and content for GMs) is planned for sale for late 2024. There are currently no physical copies of the game available to the public, though that may change with the game's development.

Looking forward to the release of the full version
Hunter! I wrote you on IG, but it appears you value your mental health and don't frequent there! So here's what I wrote:
"Literally found this last night doing a DRIVE THRU crawl. Are your plans to expand into a fleshed out version still active? I'm working on a similar thing - well, not *really* but love to see another game with a grimdark flair!"
Also, I'd be willing to help out in the art department; I'm capable of doing characters on the same aesthetic level as what you have in the quick start guide (for credit/DL/maybe a physical copy?). In any case, good luck and lemme know!
Just saw your post, thank you for sharing GK! I would also love to see this similar project you're working on, I'll shoot you a DM.
This game looks awesome! I'll be running it on StartPlaying soon. I hope you eventually have a funding campaign to create a printed zine or book. I'll be backing it if you do :
That's awesome, I hope it was fun if you got around to playing! If you did and want to share how it went, I'd love to hear about it. I will certainly look into crowdfunding/publishing if I get to that point
As a big Souls / Elden Ring / Bloodborne fan, I'm super into the theming of this. All of the flavour text in the fealties, the mounts, and the character options is so good, I can't wait to run a session zero where I tell my players they can be an undead abomination in a tacky chromed car working for blood mages!
That's great to hear! Let me know how it goes if you play it
